Seeds

Forums:

I just picked up some seeds for next year. A buddy of mine got seeds from this company (Grower's Choice) last fall, and gave me two seedlings this spring--a Green Crack and a Girl Scout Cookies--that are doing really well in my garden. Ordering and payment was easy with Zelle (they're US based), and it took less than 10 days for them to get here. Looking forward to growing one of each of these next year.

Thanks for the Grower's Choice info, Mike.  I've had good luck storing seeds in a ziplock bag in a mason jar in the fridge. Doing that, I've been able to pop seeds 5 yrs old. I used to order seeds from The Attitude in GB. NY customs was never a problem; always got the package. Then in 2010 Chicago customs started filtering the packages and I eventually got seeds seized.  Federal thieves sent the empty package with a nice big piece of green "ha, ha, we took your shit" tape on it, so I took a pic of the package, sent it to The Attitude and they resent 10 more seeds in a different container and those seeds got through. The wait was always a bit exciting.

There are lots of good seed banks in California, Oregon, Colorado, and Michigan.

This is my collection so far with lots more still coming in the mail.  I plan on doing some of my own breeding and making my own feminized seeds too.IMG_20200809_58787.jpg

Wow. Nice collection.

Anybody know of a good place in Maine where I can shop for seeds and or even more preferably clones in person?

I have curated and maintained a seed collection for all of my adult life. Mostly my own breedings; hybrids, inbreds / line work, fems, and obviously others work I have purchased and traded for. My advice is keep your library no larger than would fit in a 40 quart cooler in event of a hasty evacuation. This rule basically self affirms every fire season. Otherwise they are stored and maintained in their own dedicated refrigerator so as not to interfere or be contaminated by foodstuffs. Bulk hash and beneficial insects (amb. Swirskii and Californicus) are the only other things allowed. The conditions are set to 40 degrees Fahrenheit and 40% humidity.

The only place I'll actually vouch for the clone quality and cleanliness is Archive Portland. Bought a few here over the last couple years. Good stuff

i have bought seeds from gypsy nirvana with good results. Only mail ordering I've ever done. I don't know if they are still in business.

Mice--what kind of methods have you used for feminizing seeds?  Just learning about it and want to try colloidal silver.

I use sts and make it myself. I've had success with commercial sprays but they aren't cost effective at all. just speaking personally i'm trying to establish a method for myself that doesn't depend on commercial products.

It's taken me around five years of trial and error with a ton of failures and aborted attempts but the successes along the way always seem to make it worth it.

Very cool Mice, thanks.  Great job with the trials and errors, it's all a lifelong learning process and I love learning new things and hearing about people's efforts.

Of course it's not perfect science but we used to stress females to herm and the seeds were 95% female.  Better techniques these days but that was the way we preserved lineage.

Humboldt seed co is doing some interesting stuff

Gypsy Nirvana got snitched on and busted by the feds.

There are tons of seedbanks in the US to get seeds from.

HUMBOLDT SEED COMPANY SUCKS.  NATE, THE OWNER IS A PIECE OF SHIT AND THEIR GENETICS ARE NOT THAT STABLE.

I'm stoked about getting these the original Blueberry F5 seeds by DJ Short.  IMG_20210308_27561_0.jpg

Here is a pic of most of my seed collection/addiction.  I have all kinds of old school genetics bred in some of these seeds like '74 Matanaska Thunderfuck, '78 Maui Wowie, '78 Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, etc.  I also have a 1:1 thc:cbd strain, and some heavy 70%+ sativa too.

Damn Matanaska that is a freaking sweet seed collection!

I hadn't heard about the ugly side of HSC. A ton of seed companies out there, I guess I'm just looking for some super heady feminized seed supplier recommendations.

When I was a kid I used to Love Alaskan Thunderfuck. I've been looking for a modern updated version.

ps Is there anything wrong with Fem seeds?

Fem seeds are fine if they come from a reputable dealer.

Has anyone here ordered and/or grown anything from Seed Junky Genetics?

I think they have the most expensive seeds I've ever seen, with 'Runtz' being a close second.

just curious,

thx

I'm really impressed with ILGM. First and foremost, everything we've gotten from them hae been great genetics. Secondly, their customer service is awesome. For whatever reasons, 3 seeds didn't germinate on the last run. I sent pics and exactly how they were started, the medium, etc, and they sent me a coupon for $89.

I ordered the same about 2 months ago. I think I got 13 reg F5 Blueberry seeds by DJ Short.

I haven't grown any yet. What about you Rob?

genetraders on Instagram has been hiding packs of seeds around NYC

if Indiana Jones were to find cannabis seed vault it would have some of these genetics:  https://agseedco.com   (from gardens of Todd McCormick and Mel Frank)  In case those names didn't cause you to check out their catalog, maybe these sexy mostly forgotten Ladies will:

  • Northern Lights#2  F2   (the NL#5 F2 currently sold-out)
  • Haze (100% Columbian and 100% Sativa)
  • Skunk #1

...and more.  Excellent breeding stock or pick-up an established line if you are plant count limited.  These are actually from the original grower (Skunkman Sam) who passed them along to other legends like Neville & The Dutch crews.  So grateful Mel and Todd are sharing!  (Plus, no B.S. pricing, ---$200+ for 10pk? WTF?)  These are $100/10pk of regulars.

Sow now, thank me later.

Rob are Old School Thai Stick Seeds Impossible to Find ?

Bought Mel Frank's Mj Indoor Grower's Guide in '90 and have been a fan of him ever since.  And as convenient as feminized seeds are, they automatically lock a grower into the phenotype that the person feminizing chose. Regular seeds allow a grower to select specific males and a chance to collect that precious pollen.

^This!!

I read that Owsley had a real beef with people, among other issues, for taking out those valuable males and other females that had lower yields and higher flower times but those can be the real boutique strains too.

anyone have some old school sativa long grow types to kick or direct to where i'd buy 'em?

Turts I've never ordered from these dudes but they seem legit. I probably will in a couple months.

Just ordered some Lambsbreath and Matanuska 74

Paid cash, hope it shows, will update when I know.

Just rec'd email on **Old School Genetics Deal**:  30% OFF Black Friday Seed Sale!  (Mel Frank's genetics; Todd McCormmick's genetics) http://agseedco.com

Even a $200 order gets a $60 discount...  I can vouch for them as I sent cash and received super healthy, beefy, well-packaged seeds delivered promptly w/tracking info.

So I got my seeds and a free pack thrown in! Gunna check out Han Slo Hoe that was thrown in for free!

Great pricing and This guy is legit! I'll be back!
Hope he hooks up with 3rd coast genetics , I'm Jonesing to try some Pure Michigan.

Pure Michigan reminds me of the super Oregon kynd I had for trade back at '92 Auburn Hills and some tour rats were laughing about the relidiculous notion of "Detroit Kind" .....LOL

rob - very nice collection. have you popped any of the greenline seeds? i have used that guys seed bank to get cheap packs of csi himboldt and grabbed a couple packs of blue cookies x zkittles bx...just based on the guys overall demeanor and propensity for drama i am super skeptical of both the provenance and stability of these genetics, but they were cheap and blue cookies is super tasty so i grabbed them.

to rob and bss and anyone else with similar seed collections - do you guys have any melon strains in there? i have a pretty vast melon project going, curious to hear about what else might be out there.

Dudes are selling seeds $50 for 10packs
