Got Balls?

Since had 3 males of the 4 tested, kept em in 1gal.in 36"x20"x60" tent.  Defoliated just after pic taken then put into a 24"x24"x48" tent & collected pollen.

Northern Lights#2 on left, Haze x Romulan.  Love the expression of genetics in the fans.

So cool Sigmund, hope you have space/time/desire to grow-out your dudes.  Curious to hear what your ratios are...

$60 bucks for four plants seems reasonable, but I'm kind of confused about this: "You can identify male cannabis & hemp plants as early as 7 days post germination." What kind of tissue sample can you collect from a plant that young?

Those first round " Cotyledon" leaves are needed. Some plants I would only take 1 others I used both to get a healthy sample.
I'm Expecting my results any time now, I feel like a delivery room Dad LOL

DeltaLeaf charged 12 per test plus $10 shipping and I pay return shipping. Stocked up when they had 20% off for 420

Thanks, Sigmund. That makes sense, in a way. My understanding is that cotyledons are nutrient storehouses, and they also collect light for photosynthesis before the true leaves take over. It seems like amputating them "as early as 7 days post germination" would have a negative effect on the plant's early development.

Imho For sure Mike they are super important early on . Mine were more like 17 days old. Hope it doesn't effect them long term but they were well established. Once the true leaves are happening that baby is in its way. Again imho

17 days old sounds like a much safer bet than 7. Now I'm wondering what they mean by "post germination". I'm guessing they mean from the time the seed emerges.

And, yeah. I'm full of questions.

I wish it were Cut n Dry

Happy to cull out the males and stoked  with a couple of fems. The "Confirmed" plants had definite results back to back, The couple that say High Probability had Female initial test result followed  by an indeterminist result.

Sounds like you probably beat the 50-50 ratio. Keep up posted on this, please. I'm interested to hear how it turns out.

So the results are in,,,

The lab told me that the inconclusive tests were a result of a bad "test enzyme " they got from their supplier.

Upon retesting the 2 questionable Fems are indeed fems and the "undetermined "  sample of Raining Lemons came back Fem as Well! Bringing my grand total to 5 Females out of 8 plants. 37,5% male ratio.
Although there was a short delay with the results I am pleased I don't have to waste time, money, ferts and soil on a male .
