Auktyon

Forums:

I stumbled upon a really cool band the other day while checking out a new Marc Ribot vid and thought it deserved its own thread. The suggested video links led me to this video;

Auktyon, Medeski, Ribot - "Devushki Poyut". Live in St.Petersburg

This is a Russian band called Auktyon. Its a sort of experimental/alt-rock/art rock kinda thing. Apparently they play shows with Medeski from time to time and he has played on some of their records. There is tons of stuff on youtube, including full albums and alot more from the Medeski/Ribot show.

Auktyon, Medeski, Ribot - "Tam-Dam". Live in St.Petersburg

Аукцыон — «На Солнце» (весь альбом, 2016)(Full Album)

They have a ton of albums, and lots of live vids to check out. Really great improvisation, lots of awesome danceable noise, very strong brass section, and some really good songs.

This starts off with a Dark Starish jam

I like this a lot. Thanks.

I love stuff like this and have never heard of them. Thanks

BUMP with an extra hard rocker from the medeski/ribot show

Auktyon, Medeski, Ribot - "Oskolki". Live in St.Petersburg

this one starts off with brass driven gypsy rock type thing and then within minutes instantly morphs into a sort of avant/noise/jazz driven by ribot's guitar. the interplay here between ribot and auktyon's drummer is really impressive. they swing back into the original, danceable groove that began the song and then the brass section jumps off the same cliff that ribot did, into total avant noise type jazz, and after trading noise for groove a couple times, the short last verse comes out of a kind of noise climax really unexpectedly. the other tracks i have heard from them seem to go between a lower energy, softer intro and first verse, with increasing energy and tempo as they careen into noise/jazz/improv territory, but this track is full blast high energy from the first note to the last.

i think so far, this is my favorite track from this show.
