Looking good, MarkD!  Especially the artichokes, one of my faves.

The baby artichokes can be used in paella -- and there's an easy baby arti appetizer I learned how to make in Spain if you ever want a recipe.

Good to see you China -Rider in these photos. You are like the gnome that travels in the film Amélie.

Trailhead, that seems so right about China>Rider.

In my top 3 fav films of all time -- I can hear the narrator's voice and the score right now!

Anyone know if this spider is dangerous?

Thought there might be a Zoner spider expert!

 I have lots of spiders for some reason but this one is huge and first time I've seen this type.

Yes, I am worried it will drop on my head while sleeping and don't want to trap or smash it unless absolutely critical.

Google sez it's a Giant House Spider (Eratigena atrica or Eratigena duellica). Harmless to humans.

Thanks Mike, I shoulda tried that myself, obviously.

Was thinking it would be a much more dramatic variety than the one you found, LOL.

Mark me safe from the giant spider!

Could be a wolf spider too, also very common in western Oregon, friendly, good kind of spider.  I had one for a pet for a year 45 years ago, fed it flies, called it Boris...

Thanks Noodler, will research these later!

Speaking of wild things, David Byrne cycled over to the Peculiarium art gallery in Portland before his show at the Keller Aud. yesterday;
