Jerry B Goode

Gilmours black strat went for 14

My old boss used to have either Mike Gordon's or Trey's original rig can't remember which - that he sold about 12 years ago. Probably should have held onto it.

They must tack on the commission

Wonder what Jerry's briefcase would go for? Aside from the street value of the contents.

I would wear a hazmat suit before opening Jerry's briefcase.

Kerouac's 1st draft of 'On The Road' went for $12 million.

A collector from Chicago named Bobby Tseitlen bought Tiger. There's video of him sitting with Derek Trucks at auction today. It will be played on stage again.

I, for one, am breathing a sigh of relief

Instead of getting a retread nailed to it as a styrofoam cue ball in Deadco's gigbag,

Tiger will ride off into the Endless Sunset...

It looks like the sale price was $9.5 million, plus the $2 million in fees. That's nuts.

Let us eat cake!

"All you need are looks and a whole lot of money."

Or at least just lots of money

Buying Jerry Garcia's Tiger guitar: $11.5 million

Actually seeing Jerry play it live: priceless

^yes!

and that sale price from a guy who once lived out of his car and would raid friend's refrigerators....lol

So who is this guy Tseitlen? I googled him and didn't find much.

He runs Family Guitars in Chicago.

Tiger is confirmed for tonight at the Beacon

Very cool!

now how much does it cost to insure a guitar like that and how do they prevent theft when it's being transported and/or in storage ?

And Ass Pocket Whiskey now all sold out online

Funny that

TTB at the Beacon tonight:

Angel from Montgomery > Sugaree

When the gavel hit, so did the acid, and we cracked open a pound of Northern Lights No. 5  right here on the Christie's floor.

Would've been far more appropriate,  but glad it's getting played.

Demonstrates to me that the artist not the instrument makes the tone, this guitar didn't exactly "sing" for me listening to DT on it

They couldn'r even wait a day before using it in advertisemets.

dare I say that's a Wdow Koons-esque move by Derek and the other douche...

.>this guitar didn't exactly "sing" for me listening to DT on it

should of bought the Budman amp to go with it

i mean i guess he played slide on rooster?otherwise would like to hear it being played and not having a slide rubbed all over it.

now THIS would have been epic rock n roll...

I like this a lot more than some creepy billionaire posing with Tiger for Forbes or some shit, but the product placement is a bit gross. Guess it worked out for them.

I think it would sound more Tigery if it wasn't being played around ST's vocal stylings, but only time will tell. Someone once said to me that it seems like Derek Trucks is in the wrong band. This Sugaree version most definitely is sounding like a perimenopausal anthem.

From a business side it's genius.   While I may not prefer it, it's working like a charm.

Agree with Fish's take.  Just give it to Billy and let someone with soul play it.   No disrespect to Trucks (but probably comes off that way)

Current tally per ESPN...

Late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay's memorabilia collection brought in $93,656,609 during live auctions from Thursday to Saturday with Christie's, with online auctions ongoing.

Christie's pre-auction estimates for the items being sold in March was $40 million.

About $77 million for sales of musical items.  Online auctions are ongoing.

>>>it seems like Derek Trucks is in the wrong band.

The Derek Trucks Band was phenomenal and way too short-lived.

That's what love will make you do.

Made Sugaree sound like an Allman Bros tune

The booze seems like a strange business flex for musicians.
A lot of artists I respect have done it, Willie, Dylan, etc.
But trotting out Jerry's guitar to sell Asspocket whiskey is a step beyond.
Reads like the definition of corpse-humping. Probably a smart move for his biz, but I will never buy it just on principle.
And yes, Derek Trucks Band was great. I wish TTB didn't kill it, there was room for both.

It only works in make believe land

There must have been some magic in
That old silk hat they found
For when they placed it on his head
He began to dance around
Oh, Frosty the snowman
Was alive as he could be
And the children say he could laugh and play
Just the same as you and me

Tiger's middle PU is not conducive to Truck's finger style playing as he digs in there.  The guy who did my Firebird/Tiger conversion spec'd Tiger at the RRHOF, per him no one is allowed to make adjustments or change the setup.

DT is using a flatpick for most of it only throwing down the pick at 9:30ish for slide.

Extra misogynistic points for the Susan hate.  Not directly of course.

Her vocals on Sugaree sounded like every track on Bonnie's menopause record. Sorry not sorry. Nothing wrong with her voice, or Bonnie's album, it's still not something I enjoy listening to and it's not because they have vaginas indirectly or directly lololol
