interesting article I read this morning:
Psychedelics could treat some of the worst chronic pain in the world
"Here’s another strange and under-studied prospect of psychedelics: a world without severe chronic pain.
For Court Wing, a former martial artist and CrossFit trainer, the most surprising thing about participating in a 2020 clinical trial at NYU for psilocybin and major depressive disorder wasn’t that his depression — which had resisted treatment for over five years — disappeared. It was that his long-standing chronic pain, something unrelated to the trial’s focus, also disappeared. “Shockingly, I was in complete remission,” he told Vox.
And if you start poking around the internet or psychedelic conferences, a whole subterranean trove of similar stories opens up. An estimated 51 million Americans suffer from chronic pain — excruciating conditions like migraines, phantom limb pains, or fibromyalgia — and often go without effective treatments. But psychedelics like psilocybin mushrooms and LSD seem to offer serious relief."

I attended my seventh
I attended my seventh ayahuasca ceremony Friday night and my eigth last night; started at 7, we left at 4 this morning. Will be back in ceremony at 2 this afternoon.
I sat next to our teacher this time, both nights, and before ceremony last night he explained the difference in the ability to concentrate between lying down and sitting up for the duration of the journey. I explained to him that i have chronic sciatic nerve pain and sitting for long periods of time is painful. He encouraged me to try sitting for as long as i could once i felt the medicine activate. He was right. I sat in a cross legged position until 3am with zero pain. First time I've ever been able to sit for that long in probably 3 decades. I doubt it's a permanent fix, but i feel great this morning and was able to do something physical i wouldn't have been able to do on my own otherwise.
Psychedelics in the proper dosage, set and setting hold tremendous power to heal emotionally, spiritually and physically in ways that science is only beginning to take serious notice of ,and will take much longer to understand.
Btw, 2.3 billion dollars still can't duplicate the intensity and imagery of closed eye visuals induced by Peruvian ayahuasca.

Boy it takes a long time for
Boy it takes a long time for societies and cultures to change attitudes on things. I so wish I lived in a culture were psychedelics weren't looked down upon and where large percentages of people weren't scared of them. It is simply amazing to me that even as the overwhelmingly positive scientific data comes in so many people still think if you take LSD you will jump out a window or some such bs.

It's going to take people who
It's going to take people who aren't afraid of getting voted out of office to make respectable legal change. Progress could be made much faster with proper funding for massive studies and research. Fear mongering works, though, and the biggest gains in knowledge sadly are still happening underground. Scientific research is happening at far too slow of a pace, imo.
