Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Crosby is heading out on tour in april and may. Joining him will be five musical friends, James Raymond on keys, Mai Agan on bass, Steve DiStanislao on drums, Jeff Pevar on guitar and Michelle Willis on keys and vocals. Crosby is in the midst of an incredibly creative and powerful period, showcasing his skills as the brilliant songwriter that he is and on this tour, he will be performing music from his recent solo album “Croz” and the soon to be released new album “Sky Trails” alongside some of Crosby’s greatest hits.

He just jammed with Snarky Puppy in SF a couple of weeks ago.

Whatever one may think, the guy is a major leaguer.

Even a "Hall of Famer".

One-of-a-kind.

A legend?

For sure.

I expect to be at this show.

After looking at my calendar I see that I have a 4:00pm show with the Wayne Shorter Quartet in SF that same day.

A NICE double-header lined up there!

I got my tix.

He just sold out in a small 300 seat theater in Salt Lake in about an hour.

$75 per ticket, $110 for early entry ticket.

Jen got hers. I passed.

A Bucky Dent?

Thanks for sharing this Rob. One of my friends is attending all 4 nights of Wayne Shorter in SF in April and he might be determined enough to want to pull a double with this DCF show and would record it too. :)

Just called him and left a message about the show.

I got my tix. Psyched.

Sure would like to hear a recording if it ever happens, Patrick. Not sure David is taper-friendly.

We saw David at The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley a few years back and it was great. His voice is still in good shape and he had many choice political opinions that he freely shared. Best of all, he turned us on to Michael League and Snarky Puppy. We'll be seeing him again next week in Miami at the GroundUp Music Festival (w Snarky Puppy), so I'll pass on the GAMH or make it a game-day decision.

>>>and would record it too<<<

Any chance he's recording the Shorter shows?

I went all-in this year and have tix to all four shows, I'd LOVE to have recordings of them.

A few years ago Hedspace was kind enough to send me recordings of two WSQ shows from the Miner that I was at, and I still listen to them all the time, finding different nuances every time I listen.

As for the Sunday double-header, that is set up really well & easy. Shorter's group will play an hour & a half at the most and will let out around 5:30, and when you walk out of one of those shows your senses are all WIDE open, which leads really nicely into a second show.

Hi slick and lance,

First, lance thanks for letting me know that you could get from WS to DCF within time to see the other show. If you did not say that I would not of contacted my friend.

Secondd, he said he can not make the DCF show that night.

Third, my friend tapes low key at every show he goes to. He averages over a 100+ shows a year.  He recordings vary in quality. Lance think I read you went to the Oct, 2015 WS shows and he has the old recording of WS in SF in 2015 at Traders den:

WS Quartet 10/15-18/2015 are still active on TD.

So yes lance, he will be recording the WS 2017 April Shows and putting them up on TD at some point.

============================================================================

Last, there has been a trend in last few years with tapers, not as much music not get released as it use too for a variety of reasons. From people selling tapers recordings, Its harder and harder to get gear in the venue with what's happening in the world, talkers, fighting the whole night to keep your space, people disrespecting you, etc. Also, it is a lot of time to process and release stuff and if you record a lot of shows you do not have time to go back and process the old show. Have many taper friends who go to 100-150+ show/year and DO NOT RELEASE any music for a variety of reasons. Even know these guys and have a hard time getting shows out of them. I have actually cut way back on releasing stuff too. Like less then 20% of what I record gets out. Actually I record a lot of jazz these days and do not release it due to the artists do not want that and other reasons. Been at shows with 3 tapers all either in the same row or close to each other and the show does not get released.

Many of my taper friends do not really go see many of the "Jam" bands like we use to. We see smaller stuff that lots of people have never heard of. Listen now to a classic show I recorded this week at CU which was all "new pieces" mostly classical by a variety of very high quality musicians. Would never release this due to these pieces have not been recorded and that would be very disrespectful to the artists to put it out without their knowledge and consent.  Would say in CO so many shows don't get released that it looks like recording is not really going on like it use to. It just has shifted more from Jam bands to other types of music and unfortunately much does not get released.

My 2 cents...

We're going to see Shorter on the 27th, I'm looking forward to that show!
