He might not have wanted this job, but what sort of clean / easy exit ramp does he have?

Best case scenario he gets prosecuted after leaving office for what is already known.

And where there's smoke, there's fire ... and what is not already known or revealed yet might be currently employed as leverage to do other's bidding.

If this is the case, he might not have much choice but to do anything and everything he possibly can in order to retain power.
