I've grown weary from reading non-stop news stories about Trump, coronavirus, et cetera, and thought a thread with goofy local news stories would be a nice diversion. Here's one from my back yard:
FORT TEJON, Calif. —
A cow that California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers named "Old Moodini" was captured after a two-hour chase on the area known as the Grapevine on Interstate 5 Saturday morning.
Fort Tejon officers said they had been looking for the cow for about a year. Officers received similar calls about this cow on the interstate before, but when officers responded, the cow seemed to "disappear into thin air."
Officers said cows like "Moodini" and other live stock or wildlife making their way onto the interstate is a good reason not to speed on the Grapevine.

Funny story, but I have to ask: How high are the CHP in your area of the state, Mike? (and good for them if they are
)
Not local or my pic, but goofy. I caught this billboard on a recent road trip. The Uranus fudge factory is alive and well!

Hey, Joe. Its hard to say. We are a legal state, and Tejon Pass sits at 4160', so they've got that going for them. There's also an old legend about camels living in the hills in the area where the cow was caught. Apparently, during the Civil War era, the Army brought in a load of camels they thought would work well in the high desert. As the story goes, some of the camels escaped, and their descendants have supposedly been living in the local hills ever since.
That billboard reminds me of one I used to see for a diner selling "Ho-made pies" off I-55 in downstate Illinois.
