Pot question

Forums:

Is the price of pot starting to go up a little out west?  I've heard because it was getting so cheap a lot of people got out of the game.  So it is becoming more scarce, therefore increasing prices a little bit.  Westies?  A friend in Eugene told me it's getting harder and harder lately to find really good grass?  Truth?

A buddy bought an OZ of decent bud  for $50 in Portland recently!  That's what we used to pay for 1/8ths in the 90s.

A company called Groundworks is buying up multiple small independent dispensaries.

One local article I read said there is enough harvest in Oregon to last consumers for 7 years (from the last 2 years of harvest).

I haven't been too impressed with the quality of what I'm finding at my local dispensary, either. Top shelf quality is going for $12/gr!

Berkeley Patients Group changes prices on flowers pretty frequently.

Top shelf price drops as the buds go down in quality until a fresh batch is brought in.

Like LLOLLO says, decent bud is about $50 an ounce here in Oregon and tends to be from last falls outdoor harvest. Just so much of it out there and it can be pretty decent. I bought this eighth if White Tahoe Cookies earlier this week for $12. But top shelf, boutique indoor, particularly fancy new strains, still command a premium price like $12 a gram.

I am pretty happy with all these great deals on outdoor

1st world problems.....lol.surprise

Amazes me that people still buy flower in Portland.  Custies (cough cough).

Amazes me people who are over 40 call it "flower", smh.

You work for these companies on the side or are these your go to for nugs?

Mildly mid curious.

Harborside was our first rec purchase a year ago. They delivered on Easter.

BPG is centrally located. We just stopped in for the first time a month ago. Friendly folks.

I'm also "triggered" by the use of the word "flower" in said context :-)

Same thing with "L"

$50 for an ounce?!?

It's about $100 for bottom shelf in Ridgway, sometimes in Telluride (in particular during the off seasons), but good bud will be $150-$250+

One of Colorado's "Walmarts" of the industry, Green Dragon, opened up a store a couple years ago and gave deep discounts to locals, then reversed course this past summer.   I believe their general plan was similar to OP, but I think they eventually figured it's be worth it to "throw in" with the other dispensaries in silently keeping a lock on inflated pricing compared to front range ... just a guess.

Here in New York Cuomo has made it clear part of the law will be to limit production and keep prices high and no homegrown. To me that's just BS and boils down to a Tax on Pot Smokers and Govt Control of production ie soviet socialism. I would rather the law not change and prices stay relatively low

High prices and subpar weed.  That’s Colorado.  They may not be the best legal state but they were the first.

Hey Ken, I know what you mean, but I enjoy trying different varieties.... and our yard only has 4-5 hours a day of sunlight (making the assumption that this plant needs full-sun)... don't want to do indoor.
However, at certain times of year we have friends passing through from southern Oregon who just bring us jars of excess in exchange for a place to crash... so between the two...

Thanks for the link Knots. i'll be in Oaktown on Monday and will be sure to swing by that fine looking establishment :)

>>>Same thing with "L"<<<

Ran into an acquaintance at one of the Long Beach shows in '81 and first thing out of his mouth was, "I'm L'd out of my mind." (pronounced like "eld").......

So, folks have been saying that for a while. On the other hand I've never heard anyone IRL say "flower" for weed, and rarely see it referred to that way online - and I know lots of young people. So I think it must be regional slang.

Prices are rising for anything good on the black market in California.  Drought.  Most expensive weed has been in years.

You're tripping.

Im not. Open yo eyes

$1-2/gram in Oregon.

1 dollar a gram is 448 an elbow.  Not a fucking chance

E63DDFE2-0F4B-4C8B-858B-25BA98F6789B.jpegBought this oz of bubba kush on Thursday for $30 (tax included). That’s about $1 a gram. It tastes and smells great.

$750-1000 lb of organic outdoor. top shelf.

Have you checked say in the past week?  Watch.

454 grams in a pound, not 448.

$1500++ in Oregon for top grade indoor at the moment. Deps around $1200. This is on the free market, not the 33% tax one. Outdoor prices around the same as turtle’s locale. YMMV. Consider this crop is minimum 6 months past it’s prime. It seems to me calling weed “flower” has mostly been forced into the conversation by dispensary operators who did not come from within the culture to try to sound more educated than you are.

Dispensary prices going down, real world prices back on the rise. You get what you pay for.

GB' s bud is on its way to Michigan.

Mice Elf knows of what I speak

Prices are going up.  THATS A FACT!!

Deps are 1300-1400 from the grower.

Last years outs have been $1000+

You cant find 50 or 100 packs aka boxes anymore cause when it was cheap the big buyers have been buying 1000+lbs

It is because some people got out of the business on top of the law busting more illegal grows.  Its definitely been a different year in the cannabis market here in Humboldt.

Watch out for cheap weed cuz it could be hemp from Oregon that didnt pass the .03% or less test.

Packs are still being packed.  East coast went from 5k to under 2k in a few shorts years.  No ones looking for the market to drop any further. People need to work -- not everyone gets packs & the DIY opportunities are still way underground.

That being said no one wants flower.  The term flower was popularized by the states that can't sell combustible bud.

If you rely on some dip shit bud tender with face tattoos you're doing it wrong.

The Oregon legislature is stepping in to curb the overproduction that has caused prices to plummet:

Dry as dirt

Really...that's the scoop? Just got back to the area.

It is for the black market .  Drought  for anything good out West.  Prices way up. At least for any quantity.  Welcome back.  See ya at Soldier Field if you're going to the Saturday show.

just go to oregon. they have lots of mediocre weed they can't get rid of.

Exactly,  Easy peasy to get brown dry crap from Last falls harvest.  No thanks.

well, other than indoor....um, harvest isn't for 4-5 mos...so

Right.  I'm talking about indoor.  Outdoor is done.  This isn't complicated Turtle.

There was plenty of nice indoor a couple months ago in Oregon.  Gone.  There are no large indoor grows here in Chicago ever.

Stop rolling Chongers.

small scale indo is not profitable.

so have fun paying up the ass for chem weed big custie.

I think you and I are having 2 different conversations Turtle.

lol

Was hoping this was Mickey asking the Zone for weed advice...

i like the word chongers.

maybe so garage door bobber...

You should ask some of the people here from California or Canada to mail you some of their good weed.

Dear Clueless in Wisconsin,

That's the issue.  Not enough good weed in Cali. right now.  Drought

Wasn't like this last June.

Chicago is no longer worth it. Dope fiends shooting each other over trees.

You can move if you want to move up the line.

Dear clueless in the deep end,

That all happens in the same hood.  Unfortunately I work over there.  98% of chicagoans don't see it except on the news like you.  Chicago kicks ass.

>>>> Not enough good weed in Cali. right now.  Drought

LOL OK!

How are you weed smokers in CA surviving through the drought of 2019? LOL

>>Chicago is no longer worth it. Dope fiends shooting each other over trees.

How many times have you been to Chicago?

there is violence in the black market weed trade everywhere slacker. just a couple years ago one of my best friends was shot and killed over a few pounds only minutes from where you live, in contra costa county.

people who owe money and dont pay in norcal are regularly beaten, robbed, or have their homes destroyed in the night.

it goes with the black market territory.

Back during one of the great pot droughts in the early 90s, I was staying in Chicago and my buddy and I got the notion to check out Ford Heights (fka East Chicago Heights) to see if we could score some weed.  We drove down there and the car was soon surrounded by kids trying to sell us a blunt which we were having a hard time determining if it was real (never saw a blunt before).  Then, an older lady came out on her porch and yelled "dat be de police" and things starting to get real weird, real fast.  We hit the gas and but the kids started chasing us, half of them looking like they wanted to kill us and the other half screaming "come back, we have the weed."
