"New" mushroom makes folks see little people

Forums:

There's insect machine creatures from DMT, so seeing little people from eating these mushrooms seems possible, too.... I think I'll skip these, though....

"Every year, doctors at a hospital in the Yunnan Province of China brace themselves for an influx of people with an unusual complaint. The patients come with a strikingly odd symptom: visions of pint-sized, elf-like figures – marching under doors, crawling up walls and clinging to furniture....

He and his team are still trying to identify the chemical compound responsible for the hallucinations in L. asiatica. Current tests suggest it is not likely related to any other known psychedelic compound. For one, the trips it produces are unusually long, commonly lasting one to three days after an onset of 12 to 24 hours, and in some cases even causing hospital stays of up to a week. Because of the extraordinarily long duration of these trips and the chance for prolonged side effects such as delirium and dizziness, Domnauer has yet to try the raw mushrooms himself.

These mega-trips might help to explain why people in China, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea do not seem to have a tradition of purposefully seeking out L. asiatica for its psychoactive effects, according to Domnauer's findings. "It was always just eaten for food," Domnauer says, with hallucinations being an unexpected side-effect."

sounds like its more of an anticholinergic/deleriant sort of experience like diphendydramine or datura. "makes you literally hallucinate and see little elf men" sounds like a really cool psychedelic at first glance, and it makes a great headline, but having done a pretty sizable amount of all kinds of different psychedelics, psychoactive plants and whatnot...its actually a huge red flag for me that its not going to be an experience most western users of classic 5ht2a psychedelics would actually enjoy. just a guess.

That sounds kind of hellish. No spot taken.

I'm amazed that these mushrooms were tried as a raw food source, then days later they come down from it and say,  "Pretty tasty, maybe if we just cook it a bit?"

maybe WE are the the "big-person hallucination" when they eat mushrooms in their world

" I ate just a nibble of that stem and for three days, all I saw was this giant hippy staring down at me with this great music playing n the background."

I can say with honesty this article left me feeling a bit narrow minded.  I've never really given much thought about the hippie faction in China.

Is there a hippie faction in China? I assume there is. But what is it like to be a native hippie in China? Do folks grow the magic plant there? Are there places where you can indulge without fear of arrest? Are there any fans of our favorite band there?

There is surfing there, mostly on the island of Hainan near Vietnam, around Hong Kong (where it may currently be illegal), and on some offshore islands near Shanghai.

Has anyone been to China recently? What's the scoop?

There's a healthy sized Chinese contingent in the UW student body.  Some of them buy records, vintage clothes, and have been spotted in line at the weed shop, so they're at least bohemian.

Thanks for the article. My daughter is heading to the Philippines and I forwarded to her. 'Just in case someone offers you fungi'.
