It's August... What are you listening to?

Quicksilver Messenger Service - 1969 album Quicksilver

^Nice!

I'm currently listening to this Surf Guitar-Peddle Steel-Instrumental music from 2014.  Don't know much about them, but I like it.

Here's a clip of one of their tunes:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSlFv-NmT9Y

Steelism.jpg

Think i'm going to do a Jerry Fest when I get home from errands, seems most appropriate for August 1st!

July - July (Full Mono Album) (1968)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxhiAFm9pgE

Lately, I have been enjoying discovering self-titled albums from the late 60's to the mid 70's on YouTube.

GD channel on and off most of the day.

Prince - Controversy

Johnny D, I like the cut from Steelism you linked.

Leper, I tried a few cuts from July that's about all I wanted.

Thanks, both of you, happy to listen to new things.

Enjoying this one as well.  "...The fluctuating procession of guest artists includes such monumental names as Vassar Clements, Tony Trischka, Dr. John, and Bernie Worrell, while pedal steel great Buddy Cage is the band's second feature player, turning his instrument into a lead voice on songs like the Cajun-smoked "Nothing to Do" and the Booker T. & the M.G.'s groove of "Blood Brother."....

Not listening too closely, but this track seems pretty funky (can't find the track "Blood Brother" which is another one):

All the stations were playing the Jerry Garcia Band all day ~

Would you I have a hankering for David Bowie tonight?

Jerry on yootoob.  Skipping when I hit a repeat.

I'm enjoying this album (maybe some of you know this one).  Has a good ole So Cal mellow psych cowboy vibe/production.  Includes appearances by David Grisman ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eucn3ILshHs ) and Gene Parsons ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Q8UXjwCiL8 )

Listening to the new Dave's picks, Boise 83, always loved that tour!   Not sure if that's my fave show from it, but it was certainly a wild one musically!

Once past the jerry phase of August i broke out some ole favs like Manassas,  Im also trying out some of the newer Wood Bros.  oh and pat methany (turn left), and buzzcocks.

As a joke, I improvised this sloppy little ditty for our RVgeddon trip, inspire the troops before the long drive...  literally made it up on the spot (and it sounds like it too, slopfest never ends, it just gets piggier)

Now that my tasks are done, I'm home relaxing with a little bluegrass, sometime a guy just needs twang!

INXS is so good, I was very big fan

I did not have too many happy moments from 86-88; of the few I had, I was cranking INXS as a soundtrack +

Comments/Notes/Flaws:
- There are at least three sources in circulation for this show,
none of them quite complete. Eldon Porray's excellent audience
tape (usually said to be Nak 700s, but it's too early for those
mics) is all of set I and Midnight Moonlight from set II. The
sbd has cuts in Knockin' and Lonesome and is missing Love in the
Afternoon and all but the last 20 second of Tore Up. Menke's
master is the most complete, with everything up to 17:30 of
Lonesome, a few starts of songs clipped. I decided to put together
this composite using the soundboard as the basic recording. I
had hoped that the three sources could be combined to provide
the whole show, but unfortunately the sbd and Menke's master do
not overlap so as to cover the whole missing portion of Lonesome.
Menke's tape (I am not sure about the equipment he was using)
supplies 9:38-9:49 of Knockin', all of Tore Up and Love in the Afternoon, and 13:28-17:40 of Lonesome.
- d2t06 LAALWFH splice @ 17:40, unknown amount missing.

Thanks to David Minches for the source CDs!
