I'm asking for a little time off that Friday...

Peter Rowan  added. This is both good and bad.

warm up or part of band?

either way Rowan @ TXR a few weeks back was solid...

Rowan was fabulous a few weeks back and he's always good with Nelson. Those two are so closely connected to Garcia, I wish I was going to be here.

I went to say goodbye to TXR last night, Lebo, Scott Law, Elliot Peck and company put on a fantastic show.

Acoustic first set like GAMH?

i hope he does panama red!

Peter can do it forward while David does it backward! :)

Have Fun Boys n Girls

>>>i hope he does panama red<<<

That's like saying I hope Phil plays Friend of the Devil.

I do love Peter Rowan and was wondering when/if I'd get to see him again, as we're none of us getting any younger.

This pretty much seals the deal for me.

I expect to see him and many of you folks in the warm Marin sunshine tomorrow.

And that's far out.

Right on Tom!

BTW Mark, where are you seeing this Rowan news?

I'm not seeing it on the TxR site or the DNB site.

Is janama in?

Did I give her her coozie ?

bikini blonde bro

I am so looking forward to this!

See you soon!

Far in!

So, while scrolling through LLTD's usual gibberish, I'm not seeing anything on my own or from anyone else that is confirming that the great Peter Rowan is playing as a part of the local band's show tomorrow.

Anybody?

Jess or bob posted on fb

jibber ish?

I'm sorry you can't can't keep up old man

>>>Jess or bob posted on fb<<<

Oh, well, then I apologize.

Jess or bob said so? On facebook?

Silly me. It's a lock!

Whatever, I'll likely be there either way.

>>>Is janama in? Did I give her her coozie ? bikini blonde bro<<<

Yeah, I can't keep up with that.

I guess I'm just not young at heart enough to understand what the hell THAT means.

>

i hope he does panama red<<<

That's like saying I hope Phil plays Friend of the Devil.<<

:) its a joke for markd.

i took him to see pete @ mc cabes, which is small/quiet/non-drinking. mark was not happy that he played it and shouted out loud about it.

Was that the night Gillian and Rawlings played with him?   Don't remember being rude, but yeah, I've heard it many times.

Tom, I don't have your email or I would have answered you.   It's happening.

I believe you Mark.

I know you know what's up.

And far out for super-secret emails for a band like DNB and a show that's likely to sell 300 tickets.

But you don't like Panama Red? When Peter does it?

It's his song, and it's not a bad one.

It's just weird when David does it backwards.

Isn't that the one he does backwards?

I was "chatting" with Dan and Jan

Yes it was indeed a bit tangential

But it may have some meaning

And the post that announced Mr. Rowan  seems to have disappeared at this time

I am so freaking stoked and will be very emotional

I hope everyone has a momentous experience

xox

Are they coming, Joel?

As of last night he was playing with them.

The fact that they took down both posts on fb makes me wonder.

Damn you facebook!

Foiled again!!

^Derp-ramanap?!

FWIW, just looked at the TXR website and it says "featuring a surprise Special Guest."

Maybe someone leaked the name of the SURPRISE special guest too soon, thereby spoiling the SURPRISE? Then again, if was necessary to sell a few more tickets..

@snoopy airport. I love this airport

Gibberish Joel...

Gee I hope that doesn't stick

Ha

CU Freaks soon

Joelbberish?

^ New Zoner Lexicon folks

well done...

Budboy here

Chillin' & grillin'?

Everyone get in or linked up I hope? Hope its been a joyful and bountiful harvest season for you and yours...

So thats it for the Crossroads? What a fun time that was. Funny how these things just keep piling up. Thanks BB. Howdy all:)

(((Leave it if you dare)))

God bless everyone. It is indeed a joyous family. Love was in the air & I felt the whole universe was at ease.

Any got a full set list

well if that is in fact the last time I am able to see a show at txr it sure was a graceful and sweet musical experience.  the Peter Rowan sit-in did not disappoint and once again DNB played a tight and thoughtful setlist that was full of nostalgia and strong jams.  I am really gonna miss seeing these guys at this place.  they fit so nicely together

as to the audience I found myself wondering if I was back east early on in show... lots of yapping going on around my spot.  I thought it to be ironic considering how I read on this site so many complain about talkers/talking during musical interludes.  but there I was watching an older audience yap away while I was trying to listen to Twilight... the 2nd set the yappers moved and the music flowed much better.  hope everyone had a grate time and I certainly hope it wasnt the last time

When the show is over, where do you think I go?

Fable Of A Chosen One > Friend Of The Devil > Free Mexican Airforce, Panama Red, Lonesome L.A. Cowboy, Twilight, Eagle Breeder’s Waltz, Midnight Moonlight

Man Overboard, Any Naked Eye, Not Dark Yet, Talkin’ Back, Ghost Train Blues, Wheel > Fable Reprise

Thing is, Drkstar, Most of the pholks in the audience were family that (mostly) only get together for DNB. Much love and catching up.

I know I really enjoyed seeing my friends along with hearing the always epic music. It is a gathering.

We are soooooo lucky.

Mookie was spot on singing it's not dark yet.

david sounded pretty good too.

I'm afraid I was guilty of yakking a bit when I first got there (right when the music started) but those damned zoners kept coming up to me.

Buncha' damned yakkers.

Very strange to be there with so few people, both in the park and overall. Traditionally, the place has always been packed & vibrant with a great mix of restaurant, bar, park & Grate Room patrons, but now with only the park doing business and that not being even half full yesterday, the experience was so different. Very nice, but very different.

Since tomorrow's Stu show may well be the final event for Terrapin Crossroads I want to make the effort to get up there, but I'm not sure I'll be able to, so I made sure to take my time yesterday to roam around the property and reflect on the place and how many good times I've had there.

It was sad to walk by the entrance to the Grate Room and see that once hopping, electric area of the property look like a ghost town; dark, deserted, leaves & other junk piled all over the place, but everything has it's time and ten years is a good run. If it does shut down for good I feel I got full measure, and that the place did as well.

As for the show, Peter Rowan was the highlight for me. He was great as always, and their version of Midnight Moonlight as the sun was setting really got to me. I love that song, and I don't think they rehearsed it at all so it had a lovely, quiet groove with Barry on steel... it was just exactly perfect.

In the 2nd set, after all my reminiscing about the place and the passing of time in general, The Wheel was perfect and also got me wiping my eyes a bit.

Molo's absence was really noticeable in the sound of the band. He's such a strong drummer who always pushes a band hard while Ingram is a very gentle player, who didn't seem to know the music that well to my ear, so the band didn't have their usual jump I'm used to, but they were still very good and it was fun overall.

It sure was nice seeing all you folks again, I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

And if I don't see you again Terrapin Crossroads, thanks for everything.

>>>their version of Midnight Moonlight as the sun was setting really got to me. I love that song

Agreed, although his moaning at the end left a little to be desired.

Peter looked good, and stylish as well.
i got my box of rain but was not put together that well.

wally is great, but I reeeeeaaallly miss molo, he does so much. I tell people his playing/cymbal work is like the ocean washing upon the shore.

and yes, people talk a lot during quiet songs, it's not dark yet being one of them.

apparently was the 35th DNB show at. TxR. Beautiful evening and sunset.

Wonderful seeing everyone, I love you guys. Thank you to all my handlers and enablers.

Peter's songs are an important link in the cannon/repertoire of all things we love.

Enjoy everything while you can, it's not dark yet, but getting getting late....

I can''t believe the place was less than half full!?surprise

Bet Jerry wannabe Stu will pack the place. Don't get it! sad

Molo drives the music more than other drummers.   He pushes and pulls and makes things happen while bringing so much energy.   One of a kind.

Just add that to the list of things you don't get doo.

But just to help you out a bit, the park holds up to 1500. I'd say there were 300 - 400 folks there yesterday, about average for a DNB show.

And I doubt the very talented Stu Allen and the very good band he's playing with today sold 1500 either.

Stu Allen gig was pretty full.  Makes sense, considering that tickets for this show have been available for quite some time (and was considered the "last available show" for awhile).

DNB gig was on Friday evening, so fewer travelers were able to attend (good to see YOU, Turtle!).

I plan to attend every Last TXR Show that I can.  Would be nice if today's is not that show.  If it is, well, it's been a hell of a ride.

Hope to see some of you today,

Johnny D

Oh, here's a nice stage-side video of the last 11 minutes of DNB's regulation time from Friday:  https://www.facebook.com/BobMinkin/videos/245829637589197

Doo don'r get Stu over Dave? surprise

DNB showreel (Thanks DNB and Dan!!!): https://mixlr.com/93redbridgedan/showreel

Show starts about 20mins in.

Nice listen on a cloudy Sunday morning.

I will not yuck your yum, Doolittle.  Love DNB!

You would think if it was really the last show at his joint, Phil would be there, que non?

^That's what I'm hoping, though I figure that I won't get my hands on any tickets for that event.  I may hangout at Shakedown for that (or sit in an inner tube).  wink

Thanks for the link, Johnny.  Gonna cue that up after last night's PhilCo stream.

Very nice to see many of the usual suspects at the terrapin crossroads beach park this harvest time. And of course Peter Rowan was an extra little bonus.

Yes, this band has lost its edge.

But the crowd still has that sparkle.

And Lance to put it a better way, I don't have to dig what you dig! You Dig!?

dp for some reason

I have had so much fun at TXR & have been to so many shows, usually with Roshambo & Blaise.

Is it over?

Will there be a similar venue in my lifetime?

I hope so.

Thank you & love to everyone.

^^^Enjoy everything while you can, it's not dark yet, but getting getting late....

^^^And if I don't see you again Terrapin Crossroads, thanks for everything.

Two statements that bare repeating.

Stu brought in a Meyers sound stack with side satellite speakers for the show sat. Really made a difference with the larger crowd. DNB had speakers propped up on milk crates. Ha

Fare Thee Well TXR...

“So long and thanks for all the fish”

"DNB had speakers propped up on milk crates. Ha"

Oh ya, like the DNB had anything to do with that!
That was the PA that was provided by the TXR peeps.

At Least we have the "soundDawg" to help polish the venue turds..........wink

>>>You would think if it was really the last show at his joint, Phil would be there<<<

If they have any more time on the lease to the main property, it's hard to imagine there not being some type of farewell event/s.

They put too much time & effort turning that place into something unique & special to go out with a whimper.

If they do have more time on the lease, because of it's "intimate" nature I don't think we'll see anything in the Grate Room, but I can easily envision a house party type deal in the main restaurant with Phil, or even a series of them, to give the place a fitting goodbye.

Maybe that won't be able to happen, but one can at least hope.

But whatever happens with that location, based on how Phil is looking and playing lately I'd say it's pretty certain that we haven't seen the last of him around here.

Where that happens is ultimately just a detail.

You keep playing Phil, and we'll keep coming.

Like Phil was gonna recreate the Closing Of The Fillmore East...........Nope: Stu Allen & Mars Hotel
