Did any Zoners attend an Acid Test show?

Forums:

I figure Thom did. Dude must've seen a couple thousand shows based on his posts here. Think I remember him saying he hung out with Jerry at some JGB shows too.

But anyway, did any other Zoners hit a show in late 65/66?

I went to a show in 1966 but it wasn't an Acid Test.

This card came from Greg's brother.

Maybe 1 or 2...?

T.O.D., are you like me, wondering what you did in 1965/66?

I was five & six years old, living just a few miles from most of the craziness, but at that point I was pretending to be Ringo Starr, not Billy Kreutzmann.

maybe lltd?

Lil hot¿ maybe.

Thom?!  LOL.....he was probably 10 years old.

I was 15 but on the wrong coast.

I attended a few shows and a few parties that were like acid tests.

Early 80's? "Acid Test Reunion" at the Dexter Grange, a little East of Pleasant Hill. Usual Prankster suspects, the thunder machine etc. Kesey and Babbs were hard up for smoke, wanted to get "motivated". I was able to help. Lots of banging around, making loud, odd noises as usual. At one point, Ken had the crowd hyperventilate (kneeling down and taking deep breaths and then standing up quickly). A fellow in front of us passed out and hit a railing with his mouth. Good times!

It was fun. I missed the real tests due to needing to go to second grade.

Anybody else go?

"I figure Thom did"

You flatter me, but I was only ten years old in 1966 and also on the wrong coast so I missed out on the early action (which I actually think was a blessing, I'm glad I came on after things had settles down a bit).  And I only saw 242 shows between 3/24/73 and 6/25/95, but I have a really good memories about most of them so I am able to discuss them in detail.  My friends are always amazed when I start rattling off details of shows we went to, it's all a fuzzy haze to them but I have really sharp memories of specific incidents at specific shows.  I think it was the acid (I dosed at 95% of the shows I attended), it burned the shows into my brain.

Judit, do you actually have that card?  I always wanted one of those, that's fantastic.

Thanks for the partial Deadsume, Thom.

yeah judit, that's super cool. You should put it in a frame or protective "acid-free" sleeve...

Yes, Thom, I do actually have that card. You're right about protecting it, Turtle.

Cool kid card.  Seriously!

Cool article- thanks howie

No I never saw that particular light daylight but was nearby

This article gives a feel for the time the place and the “band” that many of us love

Before my time.  There were more than a few acid show tests, tho'.

Absolutely.  And I would assume that we all had a few with our own group of friends.

Thom... we don't know each other and I think your post here is good. Our memories and stats are similar it would seem in our Grateful Dead history ! I would like to take this opportunity to say hello!

That is very cool, Judit!

And right back at you Zimmy!

Shakey, did you know that Thom supports putting kids in cages at the border and defends White nationalists?

Deadsume<<<

Cool word.

I think it is too. I saw a couple heads after a show repeating their Deadsumes to some lot elders in an attempt to get winged. Emotional stuff. They trace your heritage back to the Haight, you know smiley

When did you get winged, Thom? Back in the 80s?

Jeff..I am aware yes....I've been around here for a long time. I keep my music interest always as a topic here and stay away from politics online. It's bad energy and I can only not participate as a way to be nice as well as block out the insanity that occupies our world. All I was doing was saying hello to Thom who is also a veteran around here. Tonight I'm playing at Iron Springs in San Rafael and my setlist pays tribute to Neil Casal through songs. Come on by! It's free! Just a guess ..there will be no politics being discussed there either.

Shakey, did you know that Jeff likes to make baseless accusations about people he knows nothing about because he doesn't like their ideas regarding the proper role of government in a representative republic?  Some might say that he is a hate filled ignorant bigot, but personally I wouldn't go quite that far.

thom, you are literally hitler
