did the soundtrack this AM, don't usually spin this one, not sure why

I will be playing it tomorrow just as I do every year.

I hope to hear it on the radio as often happens on Thanksgiving.

When I worked for a local community theater, we used to have two shows on Saturday; a children's show during the afternoon and the main stage show in the evening.
We used to play the massacree to see if we could strike the kid set and set up the adult one withing the 18 and a half minute song. I knew the whole song by heart back then.

So who is the infamous Great Barrington man?

Admittedly, littering is bad.  Silly thing to do.  I suppose he owns it, at least!

Alice's husband I believe.

> Alice's husband I believe.

Yep.

Born in 1928, Ray Dean Brock was the son of John and Thelma Brock of Hampton City, Virginia. He had an older brother named Bennie. A jack of all trades, Ray worked as an architect, woodworker, shop teacher, and real estate flipper. He would meet his wife Alice in Greenwich Village in 1962 before settling in Berkshire County, Massachusetts to work at the Stockbridge School in Stockbridge, Massachusetts in 1964. It was there, where Ray met Arlo Guthrie, a student at the school. The married couple purchased a deconsecrated church in Great Barrington, which the couple converted into a residence for themselves and a gathering place for friends and like-minded bohemians. It is here where Ray would eventually invite Arlo and some friends over for Thanksgiving in 1965.

Me:

"I liked when back in the day, you had to catch Alice's Restaurant by happenstance on your FM dial, most likely going to or from a High School football game. If you reached your destination before the song was over, you were obligated to sit quietly in your piece-of-crap car until the song was over. Sure it can now be summoned-up anytime on the internet but let me ask you my friend, is that societal progress?"

Kid working the register at my wine store:

"I have no idea what you're talking about sir but there is a long line behind you. Have a nice day. Next customer."

I went to a Jesuit prep school in in 1974-75 that was located in Lenox, MA, which is not far from Stockbridge, and the film of Alice's Restaurant features a brief scene shot on the school's campus.

My best friend that year in prep school lived in Stockbridge, and his side yard was used in the film as the site of the crime.

I have come to terms with the realization that I have not rehabilitated myself.  Future rehabilitation seems unlikely as well.

2022 Reunion.

I tried a Change dot org petition a few years ago during Biden's term to get the Thanksgiving turkeys pardoned by the White House to be named Arlo and Alice. Didn't work.
