USA Soccer has forbidden it’s players from taking a knee since USA Women’s playerMegan Rapinoe did so last year in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick’s protest.
The fact that our team didn’t qualify for the first time since 1986, when the roster was made up of fringe professional players, is a major failure for USA Soccer. We are in BY FAR, the easiest region to qualify. There is really no excuse for not qualifying in a group where Mexico is the only country with a large population who is decent at Soccer (sorry Canada but you suck even worse than us).
These players and coaches need to wake the fuck up.
On the bright side, missing the 2018 World Cup in Russia will probably spare dozens of USA Soccer fans from the beatings that they would have taken at the hands of the professional soccer hooligans/military who will inevitably be doling them out during the tournament.
country against country, now we have an actual place we can possibly play the anthem before sport(though imagine if we played every anthem before every 100m dash)
never thought it had a place before every bloody game within a private sport organization, every private sport, never have, probably never will.
JUST counting the big four(and no other private sport, pro or semi pro) it is played over 10000 times a year, nearly 28 times a day.
add in every country station at noon and we pretty much play the anthem enough to cover 24/7 airtime. fuck that.
>>>>>>>Trinidad and Tobago will keep the U.S. out of the men’s soccer competition for the first time since 1986.
And Mexico & Costa Rica MIRACULOUSLY both lost to Honduras and Panama, respectively. Yes, the USA defeated Honduras 6-0 in front of my own eyes earlier this year. (also defeated Panama 4-0 just a few days ago)
US doomed by two own goals, one in their game that put Trinidad ahead that couldn't be replicated in a million years, and one that leveled Honduras with Mexico, a shot hit off the crossbar and then off the back of the Mexican goalkeepers head and in the net. Honduras went on to score again and win and put the USA out.
I am majorly bummed. They looked so good the match before with the wunderkind and Altidore! I cant believe the results. What rotten luck. And f'n fire Arena again already. I would not have allowed my team to play in that swimming pool either.
These are the final standings just to drive the point home:
1. Mexico (Qualified)
2. Costa Rica (Qualified)
3. Panama (Qualified)
4. Honduras (Play-offs)
5. United States
6. Trinidad and Tobago
We played Trinidad and Tobago last night and needed a tie to advance. T&T had nothing to play for. They had already been eliminated. We lost 2-1. Their country has a population of 1.4 million and their favorite sport is Cricket.
They cost our country dearly last night in terms of our world status and economically too. I can only assume that the plans to invade T&T are being drawn up as we speak. And in that case, I believe that we will win. For real, this time.
Could you imagine if our best football, basketball and baseball players decided to play soccer instead? The size of our country alone, would make us contenders.
On the other hand, if we didn't have military all around the world making babies with the locals.....
I am, he even played briefly on the team I support, Tottenham Hotspur. He was very fast but he simply wasn't good enough to get in the squad. I'm glad he's back in the EPL with Newcastle, who were in the league below the EPL when they acquired him.
Turtle, actually a lot of Americans do care, way more than 20 years ago. Plenty of people support teams in the MLS but it is not the quality of even say, the Dutch league.
It IS good to see Yedlin back in the EPL. I always like seeing Americans in the premier league. Newcastle has been a pretty interesting story with their quick dip down to the championship for a season, They look like they’ll be able to stay up this year.
Your boy Harry Kane is having a hell of a season so far, Lukaku as well. At least we will get to watch Harry and England in the WC.
